Many birds migrate from region to another during one season and then back again a couple seasons later.  Some migrations (e.g., that of some Monarch butterflies) are much more complex; individual Monarchs don’t actually do an entire circuit but participate in a relay race, so to speak - by flying only a part of a migration route.
